currently happening with the Orlando Runners Club as
well as running news, social events, races and

e-Letter Editor to post or find a
neighborhood run. We'll publish your
scheduled run in the next newsletter, or
post a notice you are looking for a running
partner. Be sure to include the day/time of
your run, location, distance and a way to
contact you.

Steakhouse Distance Classic 12k |

3 pm: 12k - 7.45 miles
5 pm: Joey Run (kids' runs)
Location
Lake Eola Park, Downtown Orlando E. Robinson
St. at Eola Drive. Limited parking along
side streets and area parking garages. The
ORC volunteers will meet at the corner of
Robinson & Hillman.
Beneficiary
Proceeds from the Outback Steakhouse
Distance Classic will benefit the Boys &
Girls Clubs of Central Florida and the
Orlando Runners Club Scholarship Fund.
It's that time again - time to start
thinking about the Outback Steakhouse
Distance Classic! The ORC is looking for
volunteers to help with this event. It's ok
if you want to run the race, just please ask
a family member or two or three to help show
their support and volunteer with us.
We need 125 hard working volunteers
to help make this year's race a success. We
need the following volunteers: 75 for course
monitors, 50 for refreshments, and 25 for
Registration/Chip Removal. For your
participation in the race, you'll receive:
an ORC volunteer shirt, an Outback shirt, 2
beverage tickets and a meal ticket.
After the race, Outback Steakhouse
generously donates and serves some of their
finest for all to enjoy, Outback Special
Steak Bites (seared to perfection) along
with Caesar Salad, Chick on the Barbie and
Bushman rolls. Additional meal tickets are
available for a $10 donation at the race
site only.
The Orlando Runners Club provides these
volunteers and in return receives a portion
of the race proceeds to benefit the
Charles M. Rowson, Jr. Scholarship Fund.

Sunrise to Sunset Relay |

Calling all relay runners... The
Inaugural Sunrise to Sunset Relay
(website) will start from Jensen Beach
on April 13, 2007 and end 165 miles later in
Ft. Myers on April 14, 2007. Teams of 12
will compete in this event, with each member
running three legs of 4-7 miles each. The
American Cancer Society is the beneficiary
of this year's event.
The ORC has fielded one team for this event,
but you can still join us. If you would like
to participate, please complete the
ORC registration form and submit your
entrance fee to the ORC. We will register
additional teams and forward individual race
registration forms to each team member.
Registration deadline is Feb 20.
Each team is required to provide one
volunteer; if you would like to help out but
don't want to run, add "volunteer" in the
additional comments section of the
registration form.

ORC Group Runs |

ORC Group Runs are held on the 1st and
3rd Tuesdays of each month. The first
Tuesday run will start from O'Boys BBQ in
Winter Park at 7pm. The 3rd Tuesday run will
rotate to different venues around Orlando.
Watch the Upcoming Events section or the
Calendar for details each month.
Would you like an ORC Group Run to be held
in your neighborhood? It's easy, just
volunteer to help coordinate a Tuesday run
in your area. For more information or to

Group Run - Meet at Tijuana Flats in
Winter Springs for a 3 - 5 mile out and
back on the Cross Seminole Trail.
- February 24 - Volunteer with the ORC
at the Outback Distance Classic.

Road Runners Club of America |

The Road Runners Club of America is the
national association of running clubs,
running events, and runners dedicated to
promoting long distance running as a
competitive sport and as healthful exercise.
RRCA's mission is to represent and promote
the common interest of its member clubs,
events, and individual runners through
education, leadership, programs and other
services. The Orlando Runners Club is a
member club of the RRCA. For more info,

Since 1974, the RRCA has been helping
motivate runners through the Personal
Fitness Program. From beginning runners to
experienced endurance athletes, we all need
a little motivation now and then. To reward
individuals for their dedication to living a
healthy life and incorporating running as
their regular exercise, the RRCA invites you
to join the Personal Fitness Program.
Program fees are varied based on your goal.
How the Program Works:
1. Select your 6 month total mileage goal
from 300, 600, or 1000 miles
2. Log onto
www.RRCA .org/Running/Tools
3. Create your FREE Account to Log Your
Miles
4. Start running and logging your miles
5. After six months, total your miles,
indicate your total on the Personal Fitness
Program form and mail your log and form
along with your payment to receive your
reward. You can also sign-up online. Visit
the Programs page of the website for more
details.
6. Celebrate your accomplishment! For each
distance received, the RRCA will provide
rewards. For individuals that achieve 300
miles in six months you will receive an
embroidered patch and certificate of
accomplishment. For achieving 600 miles in
six months, you will receive a Sport Science
performance t-shirt, an embroidered patch
and a certificate of accomplishment. For
achieving 1000 miles in six months, you can
receive either an embroidered golf shirt or
a fleece vest, an embroidered patch, and a
certificate of accomplishment.

Ladies & Gentlemen - Help Support Cancer
Awareness
|

...Gentlemen....(and Ladies)
The 30th Annual Lady Track Shack 5K
Run/Walk will be held on January
28th (Sunday). Proceeds from this
event benefit the Florida Hospital Track
Shack Cancer Screening Program. Ladies
of all ages are encouraged to sign up for
this fun event.
Although the Lady Track Shack is a women's
only event, guys can still participate!
The race needs 35 volunteers to make this
event happen. Volunteer duties typically
include pre- registration support, water
stop staff, course timers, course monitors,
and finish line support. Please contact
Mikko (mjhrun@msn.com) by January 22
(Monday) if you wish to volunteer.
