It's that time again - time to start thinking about the Outback Steakhouse Distance Classic! The ORC is looking for volunteers to help with this event. It's ok if you want to run the race, just please ask a family member or two or three to help show their support and volunteer with us.

We need 125 hard working volunteers to help make this year's race a success. We need the following volunteers: 75 for course monitors, 50 for refreshments, and 25 for Registration/Chip Removal. For your participation in the race, you'll receive: an ORC volunteer shirt, an Outback shirt, 2 beverage tickets and a meal ticket.

After the race, Outback Steakhouse generously donates and serves some of their finest for all to enjoy, Outback Special Steak Bites (seared to perfection) along with Caesar Salad, Chick on the Barbie and Bushman rolls. Additional meal tickets are available for a $10 donation at the race site only.

The Orlando Runners Club provides these volunteers and in return receives a portion of the race proceeds to benefit the Charles M. Rowson, Jr. Scholarship Fund.

If you or any of your family members, neighbors, friends or co-workers are interested in helping the ORC this year, please contact Judy Kennedy at kennedjj@yahoo.com or phone (407) 327-4852. Be sure to include your name, email address, phone number and shirt size.

Thanks for your support!

Sunrise to Sunset Relay

Calling all relay runners... The Inaugural Sunrise to Sunset Relay (website) will start from Jensen Beach on April 13, 2007 and end 165 miles later in Ft. Myers on April 14, 2007. Teams of 12 will compete in this event, with each member running three legs of 4-7 miles each. The American Cancer Society is the beneficiary of this year's event.

The ORC has fielded one team for this event, but you can still join us. If you would like to participate, please complete the ORC registration form and submit your entrance fee to the ORC. We will register additional teams and forward individual race registration forms to each team member. Registration deadline is Feb 20.

Each team is required to provide one volunteer; if you would like to help out but don't want to run, add "volunteer" in the additional comments section of the registration form.

RRCA's mission is to represent and promote the common interest of its member clubs, events, and individual runners through education, leadership, programs and other services. The Orlando Runners Club is a member club of the RRCA. For more info, click here.

Since 1974, the RRCA has been helping motivate runners through the Personal Fitness Program. From beginning runners to experienced endurance athletes, we all need a little motivation now and then. To reward individuals for their dedication to living a healthy life and incorporating running as their regular exercise, the RRCA invites you to join the Personal Fitness Program. Program fees are varied based on your goal.

How the Program Works:
1. Select your 6 month total mileage goal from 300, 600, or 1000 miles
2. Log onto www.RRCA .org/Running/Tools
3. Create your FREE Account to Log Your Miles
4. Start running and logging your miles
5. After six months, total your miles, indicate your total on the Personal Fitness Program form and mail your log and form along with your payment to receive your reward. You can also sign-up online. Visit the Programs page of the website for more details.
6. Celebrate your accomplishment! For each distance received, the RRCA will provide rewards. For individuals that achieve 300 miles in six months you will receive an embroidered patch and certificate of accomplishment. For achieving 600 miles in six months, you will receive a Sport Science performance t-shirt, an embroidered patch and a certificate of accomplishment. For achieving 1000 miles in six months, you can receive either an embroidered golf shirt or a fleece vest, an embroidered patch, and a certificate of accomplishment.
