"Meet Me Out In The Street"

January 27, 2008

Dear Runner,

This is your Member E-Letter explaining  what is currently happenning with the Orlando Runners Club as well as running news, social events, races, and "happenings" in Florida.  Please forward this on to anyone that you think would be interested in joining the Orlando Runners Club.

Remember, the more active members we have, the more we can do as a club.  So spread the word to fellow runners, and also let the Board know your ideas and suggestions for the ORC.

IOA Corporate 5K Volunteers

On behalf of the ORC, I like to give a great big THANK YOU to the volunteers at the Corporate IOA 5K that was held on Thursday, April 24.  Thanks to the Parrot Head Club of Central Florida for their help in the Citrus Bowl keeping the beer taps flowing.  And special thanks to the Water Stop Volunteers.  The ORC was supposed to provide 50 volunteers for Water Stop #1, and even though we only had around 25 volunteers, you did a great job.  From the words of the Course Director:

"We all knew that 25 Vols at the WS for 10,000+ entrants would be difficult, but you pulled it off with flying colors.  My lead, Zach Fleming, said you were great to work with and did a great service for all those runners and Walkers.  Like John mentioned, it's amazing how quickly the clean-up went, even with the huge task. Just goes to show you, when everyone chips in, how much you can accomplish."

In exchange for our efforts, the ORC Scholarship fund will receive a portion of the proceeds as a beneficiary of the race.

Thanks for your support!
Minnie Marathon Weekend
Congratulations to two of our ORC members, Heather King and Heather Schulz, who participated in the 2008 Disney's Women Run the World 15K  presented by Lady Footlocker on Sunday, May 4th.

Heather King came in 1st overall in the Women's Open Division with a time of 1:00:49, and Heather Schulz came in 4th overall in the Women's Open Division and 1st in her age group with a time of 1:03:38.

Congratulations ladies, great job.
