This is your Member E-Letter explaining what is currently happenning with the Orlando Runners Club as well as running news, social events, races, and "happenings" in Florida.  Please forward this on to anyone that you think would be interested in joining the Orlando Runners Club.

If you are an ORC member looking to schedule a run or find a running partner in your area, send a note to the e-Letter Editor  to post a neighborhood run.   We'll post your run or that you are looking for a running partner in the next newsletter.  Be sure to include the day/time of your run, location, distance, and a way to contact you.
 
Regular runs are also posted on the Training Partners page of the website.
ORC Track Shack Group Runs
  Track Shack
The ORC Track Shack Group Runs are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month.  The first Tuesday run starts from O'Boys BBQ in Winter Park at 7pm.  The 3rd Tuesday run will rotate to different venues around Orlando.  
 
Volunteers are needed to host third Tuesday runs throughout Orlando.  If you'd like to help coordinate a Tuesday run in your area, please contact Amy at amyt262@yahoo.com.  Watch the Upcoming Events section or the Calendar for details each month.
Board Nominations Needed

Now is your chance to get involved in your local running club and share your ideas of events the club should participate in.  

The ORC is still accepting nominations for the Board of Directors and Officers to serve for the 2007 - 2008 term.  Elections will be held after the July first Tuesday run on July 3rd, and newly elected Board members will be introduced at the Awards Banquet on July 28.  The new Board goes into effect with the August Board meeting for a one year term.

To nominate someone or volunteer for a Board position, please send an email to president@orlandorunnersclub.org.

Nominations for ORC Members for Japan 
 The ORC Board is seeking nominations for club members to represent the club and the City of Orlando at the 2008 Tokyo Bay Half Marathon in our sister city of Urayasu Japan. To be eligible, you must be an active ORC member with dues paid, participate in club activities, and be able to complete the half marathon.

If you would like to make a nomination, please contact the ORC President.  Send an email to president@orlandorunnersclub.org before the next board meeting which is scheduled for Thursday, July 12, 2007. The winners will be announced at the Annual Banquet.

  • June 16 - ORC 2nd Annual 5K -  5K at 7:30 am, Kids' Fun Run at 8:45 am - Blanchard Park, Dean Road, Orlando. 
  • June 19 - 3rd Tuesday Group Run - TBD.
  • July 3 - 1st Tuesday Group Run and General Meeting/Elections- Meet at 7:00 pm at O'Boy's BBQ, 565 W. Fairbanks Ave, Winter Park.
  • July 12 - ORC Board Meeting - At 7:00 pm at Chamberlin's in Winter Park.
  • July 28 - ORC Annual Banquet - At the Elk's Lodge, 12 North Primrose, Orlando.  More details coming soon.

ORC 2nd Annual 5K Road Race 

Chamberlins

Mark your calendars for this Saturday June 16 to participate in the ORC 2nd Annual 5K at Blanchard Park on Dean Road. 

5K race - 7:30 am
Kids' Fun Run - 8:45 am (free)

Awards - Top three male and female overall finishers, top three male and female in each age group, and top overall male and female race walkers.
 
Pack pick up - On race day only at the race site between 6:30 am and 7:15 am.

Habitat House Building

West Orange Habitat

Continuing our relationship with the West Orange Habitat for Humanity, the ORC will be volunteering at a house building on Saturday, June 23.  We will meet at the house in Winter Garden around 8 am and work until mid-afternoon.  We will be helping with interior work.  Lunch will be provided.  For those that want to get in a morning run, you can meet early at the West Orange Trail.  For more information on the Habitat house, go to www.woh4h.org.  For details on volunteering or to sign up, email volunteer@orlandorunnersclub.org.

RRCA MemberThe Road Runners Club of America is the national association of running clubs, running events, and runners dedicated to promoting long distance running as a competitive sport and as healthful exercise.
