The Annual ORC Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2006, from 6:30 pm - 10:00 p.m. at the Elk's Lodge, 12 North Primrose in Orlando. All ORC members are invited to attend. Please come join us for the Challenge Series awards and announcement of the scholarship winners. We will also be holding a raffle and silent auction, so remember to bring your cash.

There will be a buffet dinner with the following menu: Chicken, Pork, Pasta, Scalloped Potatoes, Veggies, Caesar Salad, Rolls, Assorted Desserts, and Coffee and Tea with Dinner, and a Cocktail Hour with well drinks, beer, wine, and soda.

Tickets are $30 per person. Information on the banquet and how to purchase tickets will be mailed to all ORC members by June 25th. If you do not receive this information, please contact Michele Brackett at mtb40@aol.com.

The ORC will hold a General Meeting and Election of Board members following the Monthly Group Run to be held on Wednesday, July 5th (note the date change). The Fun Run starts at 7:00 pm. at O'Boys BBQ, 565 W. Fairbanks Ave in Winter Park. The general meeting will start at approximately 7:45 pm.

The following members have been nominated for officers and directors at large to serve on the Board for the 2006-2007 season: Vicki Bishop, Michele Brackett, Ann Griffith, Theresa Harter- Miles, Judy Kennedy, Jo-Ann Losito, Amy Sindler, Ken Stein, Amy Tatum. John Van Valkenburgh, Dave Virtus, and Paul Yacobellis.

The ORC Board is seeking nominations for club members to represent the club and the City of Orlando at the 2007 Tokyo Bay Half Marathon in our sister city of Urayasu Japan. To be eligible, you must be an active ORC member with dues paid, participate in community service and club functions, show good citizenship and good sportsmanship, and be able to complete the half marathon.

If you would like to make a nomination, please contact the ORC President, John Van Valkenburgh, at johnvanv@cfl.rr.com, before the next board meeting which is scheduled for Thursday, July 6, 2006. The winners will be announced at the Annual Banquet.

The ORC Board would like to give a special thanks to all of the members who volunteered their time to help at races for the Track Shack Grand Prix Series. Because of your wonderful efforts, the Club received $750 from Track Shack Foundation in apprecation of our volunteer service.

For many years now, the Club has actively participated in the Disney Marathon by volunteering to man the Water Stop at Mile 24. This a big volunteer effort as we need 40 volunteers. The Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, January 7, 2007. All volunteers receive one commerative piece of apparel and a Walt Disney World Resort 1 Day (1 Theme Park) ticket.

The Club needs to send in our group participation commitment to Disney and we need a preliminary count of volunteers. If you would be interested in helping at the Disney Marathon on January 7, 2007, please email Michele Brackett at mtb40@aol.com by July 1st.
