Message from the President
|
|
Message from the President Michele Brackett:
As I end my first term and start my second term as
president, I wish to offer a sincere Thank
You to the 2007 - 2008 Officers and Board
of Directors. As a volunteer Board, you have
expended tremendous effort in keeping our club "running".
As we look back on the past year, we have many
accomplishments to be proud of - continued growth
for the Tuesday group runs and Sunday
long runs, volunteering at
the Disney Marathon, the IOA Corp 5K, and Habitat
for Humanity, a record turn out of over 300 runners
at our annual ORC Race Into Summer 5K, a
great web site and e-letter,
and increasing membership numbers.
It is only through the hard work and dedication of
volunteers such as yourselves that we are able to
continue to be an integral part of the Central
Florida running community. My gratitude and
appreciation to you all. And I look foward to
another great year for the ORC!
Michele

Road Runners Club of
America
|
|
The
Road Runners Club of America is the national association
of running clubs, running events, and runners dedicated
to promoting long distance running as a competitive
sport and as healthful exercise. RRCA's mission is to
represent and promote the common interest of its member
clubs, events, and individual runners through education,
leadership, programs and other services. The Orlando
Runners Club is a member club of the RRCA. For more
info,

|
On September 19, 2008, the Road Runners Club of
America will promote the 3rd Annual National
Run@Work Day. The goal of National Run@Work Day
is for RRCA members and individuals across the
country to host community based events that
encourage people to incorporate at least
thirty-five minutes of exercise into their daily
lives. This goal can be achieved by a running
club, an individual, or a corporation hosting a
running or walking event with the duration of at
least thirty-five minutes before work, during
lunch, or immediately after work. The RRCA
encourages the American public to incorporate at
least thirty-five minutes of exercise into their
daily lives which can markedly improve one's
overall physical health.
Let us know if you are planning to participate
in the Run @ Work Day. Send in your story to
Michele at mtb40@aol.com.
